- Create an inspiration board – this can be a Pinterest board, a collage, a pinboard, whatever works for you. I personally have a secret Pinterest board as well an actual pin board. My pin board is about 3” tall and 5” wide, and it makes me happy every time I look at it.
- Start with items from your research that you find the most inspirational. Don’t be afraid to start with a lot, and then narrow it down later. Every once in a while, I clean up my Pinterest secret board and my pin board.
- Inspiration can come from anywhere – maybe song lyrics or poetry, photography, nature, a TV show or movie. I have several designs and sketches that were inspired by items seen on TV or at plays or movies. I even have a few that came to me from listening to music or from some time I was feeling an extreme emotion.
