Collaborating with so many brilliant crochet designers is one of our favorite things here at Crochet Foundry, so we’re sharing our excitement with YOU! In this Designer Interview series, we’ll get to know some of our June issue designers. Today we’re talking to Jaime Preston, who contributed the Crochet Earrings in our June 2023 issue.
What’s your name and brand?
My name is Jaime Preston and I’m the creator behind Parlez Vous Crochet.
What is your design for this month, and can you tell us a little bit about what inspired it?
I have designed a lightweight, beautiful, and fun pair of crochet earrings. Everyone loves a great accessory even me. I love bright and bold colors and love to coordinate my earrings with my mood and what I’m wearing for the day.
What were some challenges about designing this piece?
A challenge that can present itself is working with a smaller crochet hook and thread. It can be a bit challenging at first, but the pattern is very easy and once you see the outcome you will love making them.
What are a couple of fun facts about you?
Fun facts about me: I’m a Jersey Girl! I have a cute little 3 1/2-year-old puppy named Zoey. I love house music and my favorite music group is A Tribe Called Quest.
What else do we need to know?
I’ve been crocheting for over forty years but took it serious after my great Aunt Alberta aka “Aunt Al” who taught me to crochet passed away in 2012. Since then, I’ve turned this hobby into a passion and a full-time business. I love doing social media sales as well as pop up shops with my crochet designs in different areas. I’ve been interviewed by a variety of online publications around the world.
I also have a created a platform for other creators on my YouTube channel to help them get over the fear of selling their products and get sales. Helping one person might not change the world but can change the world for one person.
