By now you know that Crochet Foundry LOVES working with all the talented crochet designers that we have the privilege to showcase in our magazine. In this Designer Interview series, we’ll get to know some of our July issue designers. Today we’re talking to Jane Green, who contributed the Popcorn Sweater in our July 2023 issue.
1. What’s your name and brand (if you have one):
My name is Jane Green, and I am the founder of “Beautiful Crochet Stuff”
2. What is your design for this month, and can you tell us a little bit about what inspired it?
The inspiration for the Crochet Popcorn Sweater Pattern originated from my Pinterest board. While browsing, I came across a diagram featuring “windows” in the center of each square, created by a ch-1 space. Intrigued by the concept, I decided to enhance the texture further by incorporating the delightful popcorn stitch.
3. What were some challenges about designing this piece?
I attempted to develop a design that resembles individual squares without requiring yarn cutting. Additionally, I have a fondness for the popcorn stitch, despite its yarn-intensive nature. In this pattern, I incorporated the popcorn stitch by including only one popcorn in each square, ensuring that this pattern won’t deplete our yarn stash.
4. What are a couple of fun facts about you?
1. An interesting fact about me is that I don’t drive. While many rely on cars for transportation, I’ve embraced alternative modes of getting around, whether it’s walking, biking, or utilizing public transportation. It has allowed me to explore my surroundings in a unique way.
2. One fun fact about me is my adoration for palm trees. It’s a dream come true to now reside in a city blessed with a plentiful number of these iconic trees. Their tall and swaying presence brings a touch of tropical paradise to my everyday life.
5. How can our readers find you?
