December 2024 Crochet Foundry Spotlight

In the December 2024 Edition of Crochet Foundry, you’ll find 6 playful, warm, and cozy crochet patterns for your wardrobe, let’s look them over.

Blizzard Scale Winter

December is here and Crochet Foundry is GOING BIG this winter. Our theme of Blizzard Scale Winter is here to allow you to channel your inner runway model.

Do you have a runway model body?
Well…
Do you have a body?
Do you have something FAB to put on your body? (We can help with that!)
Do you have confidence? (We have confidence in you, use that!!)

Now put those fun crochet creations on your amazing body and strut your stuff with confidence, we KNOW you’re all that!

December’s Giving Theme

December is National Drunk & Drugged Driving Prevention Month, or National 3D Prevention Month. Use #DrunkDruggedDrivingPreventionMonth or #3DPreventionMonth to post on social media.

We’re highlighting 3 organizations that help prevent Driving Under the Influence:

The first two are Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD). These are both wonderful organizations to donate to, and to get help from.

The third is a resource that we wanted to share with you, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). SAMHSA’s mission is to lead public health and service delivery efforts that promote mental health, prevent substance misuse, and provide treatments and supports to foster recovery while ensuring equitable access and better outcomes.

Articles & Interviews

The Language of Fiber

Interview with Cassandra Rendon, fiber artist and inspirational fiber community member.
I saw your “Green Man” at H+H back in May. Could you tell us what inspired him and a bit about his creation?

The Green Man was initially created in response to a call for installations for this year’s Craftcation conference in Ventura, California. Their theme had a magical forest vibe, and I knew immediately I wanted to pitch something based on the Green Man concept. I’m a bit of a folklore nerd, particularly Celtic and Slavic as I have heritage in those two cultures. While the Green Man’s origins aren’t exactly known, he’s appeared as a motif on buildings and churches throughout Europe for hundreds of years. He’s most closely associated with spring, new growth, rebirth, and I felt as we’re all still learning how to remake our lives post-pandemic, Green Man was the perfect symbol to help us all usher in a new era.
