Intro – Today we’re talking to crochet designer Rashami Sarode, who contributed the Boho Bliss Duo crochet patterns featured in our March 2025 issue.

Can you tell us a little bit about what inspired your design for this month?
I wanted to design a set that is versatile, with both pieces wearable together or separately and ideal for multiple occasions throughout the summer. The shorts offer decent coverage and feature a simple stitch pattern, making them perfect for casual summer wear with tees or tanks. The wrap skirt is flowy and lacy, with woven fringe and tassels for a feminine, boho touch. It can be worn over the shorts or can also be styled over a bikini at the beach as a sarong.
What’s your favorite aspect of this piece?
I absolutely love how soft and flowy the wrap skirt is, along with the delicate lace stitch pattern, fringe, and tasseled drawstring.
If you were to create a sibling piece to this one, what would it be?
I would like to create a fitted tank top to match the shorts and a flowy, oversized cover-up top to complement the skirt.

What sort of customizations are you hoping creators will make when they crochet this piece?
I hope creators will customize the design with different shorts lengths or A-line shorts, as well as varying wrap skirt lengths and coverage.
What is your dream crochet project?
My dream crochet project is a beautiful, feminine dress with flattering shaping, ruffled sleeves, a deep V-neck, and intricate, complex stitch patterns. I envision using cream-colored thread for this dress.
What is the most important thing you would want someone who’s just starting out to know?
I would encourage crochet beginners not to be afraid to tackle something that seems difficult. If things go wrong, try to find a solution on your own and complete your project. Even if your project isn’t perfect, in my opinion, it’s the best way to learn. There is no perfect way to crochet. Simply follow your imagination, enjoy the process, and learn along the way.

What benefits has crochet brought into your life?
Crochet has definitely brought many positive changes to my life. For me, it’s my “me time.” I enjoy crocheting while listening to music—it’s incredibly relaxing. I also love envisioning designs in my mind, then bringing them to life and scaling them to different sizes. It’s like food for the mind and intellect. Ultimately, crochet is a form of self-care and self-love for me.
What project are you most proud of?
The project I’m most proud of is the “As We Go Stripey Blanket”. I was a beginner when I started, knowing only basic crochet stitches. When I saw a picture of this blanket, I instantly loved it and wanted to make it for my daughter. The blanket features multiple stitch patterns and color changes, but I persevered and completed it. It turned out absolutely gorgeous, and I’m still so proud of it.
